Frosted Designs Sketch Challenge for January

Hi all! Frosted Designs have a lovely sketch over at their blog for the January Challenge.  I'm a true Libra personality and love balancing my complicated layouts with neat, simple designs. So this suited me after my crazy Alice in Wonderland!

Here is the sketch

  

This is our cute little angel which was hand-made by my Mum, using the material and pearl beads from her original wedding dress and the feathers from her bouquet. (living in a small wheatbelt town in Western Australia, they didn't have fresh flowers, so they used feathers).

Such a clever way of preserving her dress for us forever. The angel is very special. 

 I i-rocked this ornament and it is hanging free on thread so that the journalling can be read.

 I embossed the ornaments and also the photo mat, adding embossing power then brushing it off the raised parts before heating. It looks very antique

 The font is Brody, using Sure Cuts a Lot2. I used gold gel pens to highlight the letters

 What a perfect way to preserve memories of our precious angel.

Cute Inexpensive Christmas Gift in a Hurry!

 

 Take three Ferrero Rochers... wrap them in a little square of cellophane and tape to a skewer (sharp end cut off). 

Cut out a few big holly leaves and stickles them up... stick these onto the stick too... then use green florist tape to wind from top to bottom of stick so that it looks green. 

 Write sentiments on the leaves with gel pens. So cute and quick! Buy Chocolates in bulk packs and make a heap for friends as a little gift.

Too easy! Christmas is busy enough!

Snowflakes Galore!

Using my beloved Cricut, I have cut over 200 snowflakes from various cartridges and hung them from the roof above our Christmas tree on fishing line.

It looks adorable!

My husband loves to make the Christmas tree area perfect and he got involved hanging them and choosing different snow flake shapes (He NEVER goes anywhere near my scrapbooking usually!)

 

Then the Cricut went to work on Cricut vinyl and I cut out the filagree tree and decorations and hanging sign from the Christmas Cartridge and holly from Joys of the Season Cartridge for my front door. 

 I love the fact that for a few dollars worth of vinyl, I can use my Christmas cartridge to decorate my house differently every year! I am so excited by the possibilities I have next years designs planned already!!!




 

Advent Day one!

How exciting!!! I actually finished my advent on time!

This one is the Dusty Attic Calendar and it is such good quality. It joins together brilliantly and is a sturdy wood. I used all my offcut Xmas paper that matched to make each box different and tried to use different techniques on every box.

Glossy Accents or Dimensional Magic is a great glue for these. It holds like cement and is much better for the precision gluing needed.


I used a whole bottle of Star Dust Stickles for the cute snow on the windows but it was worth it! I also painted the houses and used Glossy Accents to fill in the mini windows so it loks like glass is in the windows.

I used Staetdler pens to try and colour in Santas body and face decently but he still ended up looking like some mythical animal type imposter. White gel pens are great for the eyes.

 
The challenge is now to find little things that fit in the boxes!!! I think I've decided to do a treasure hunt style calendar, each day they find a clue in the box that will lead them to their treat. I just have to remember to hide it each morning... chocolate will melt quickly in this heat!
