My motto: "By 2020, every home will have a cricut!" If only for fun and to reduce economic costs of mental health! How much would the budget be cut if ALL housepersons had to take some MANDATED time out for themselves every two days and scrap their stories. lol.
I dream big.
I love the cricut because if you wanted to, all you need is plain bazzills, some photos and a few extra supplies and you have a story to scrap! (Of course, I'm just as addicted to the embellishment world as the next scrapper!)
BUT I do two kinds of scrapping...The "Slap" and the "Faff"
'Slap'
Getting the story down. Journal it while you remember, place the photos, add a few extras, add a title... DONE!
'Faff'
Taking time to fuss and change, match and detail, making it art, Trying out new things, challenging your brain!
So... Here's some examples for you of plain bazzills, a cricut and not much else! Slap!
I'm always amazed at what plain paper can become! I've been busy this week settling into work and my son settling into school, but scrapping is at my house Sunday and Wednesday nights this week and we are all going on a challenge mission! Stay tuned!
At Always Crafting, I found the PERFECT challenge for me!
For their Whimsical Wednesday challenge, the theme is Alice in Wonderland.
When I was 14 years old, I toured the north end of Australia with Mesh Youth Theatre and we ran the production Alice in Wonderland, touring for three weeks. I was the White Rabbit. These photos were from the promotion pictures taken for newspapers.
I love a creation challenge that really tests my brain and planning.
I found this cute mirror "looking glass" and I cut it out with SCAL. I embossed the whole thing with Gold embossing powder.
I found a grandfather clock and a picture of Alice, which I SCAL'd too. I'm the first to admit I need practice at drawing faces. But it turned out OK.
The clock is great. I used Walnut Stain Distress Ink and Crackle Accents to make it look antique.
My favourite part was watermarking copies of the original and antique versions of the actual story book on the background of the page.

How exciting!!! I actually finished my advent on time!
This one is the Dusty Attic Calendar and it is such good quality. It joins together brilliantly and is a sturdy wood. I used all my offcut Xmas paper that matched to make each box different and tried to use different techniques on every box.
Glossy Accents or Dimensional Magic is a great glue for these. It holds like cement and is much better for the precision gluing needed.
I used a whole bottle of Star Dust Stickles for the cute snow on the windows but it was worth it! I also painted the houses and used Glossy Accents to fill in the mini windows so it loks like glass is in the windows.
I used Staetdler pens to try and colour in Santas body and face decently but he still ended up looking like some mythical animal type imposter. White gel pens are great for the eyes.
The challenge is now to find little things that fit in the boxes!!! I think I've decided to do a treasure hunt style calendar, each day they find a clue in the box that will lead them to their treat. I just have to remember to hide it each morning... chocolate will melt quickly in this heat!
