Happy Valentines!

My LOVE card featuring in the Fabulous Friday Challenge at Frosted Designs this week was so much fun! 

 

The starting point for planning this card began when I saw this wild card (here) from a blog I love to follow, Popsicle Toes. Donna's blog is awesome to follow as she does all kinds of work from the cute, the crazy and the freaky! I love it all!

So, the zebra and the pattern is all I had. 

Then I started thinking about the complex love we all have with our spouses. The love you can't explain in just one way...

 I embossed, I layered, I inked, I staze-on'd, I watercoloured, I distressed, I sticklesed, I rubbed on, I stamped, I punched, I crackle-painted, I gel-penned, I embellished and I chirped of course with Ornamental Iron!

Peachy Keen - Sketch Challenge 44 w/a Twist

I loved the Sketch Challenge over at Peachy Keen, I did it twice!!! Well, not really. I did it once, forgot it was monochromatic and did it again! 

 Here is the sketch:

 Love my glitter pearl chalks that work together with the Peachy Keen Stamps to make faces adorable.

I am into using my Sizzix for embossing then going over the pattern with 3D paint. It gives it a really good texture and interesting depths. 

Such a cute birthday card, I think I'll save it for my own birthday! LOL (since I seem to buy my own presents anyway!) 

Here is my first attempt at the sketch before my screech rocked the house, "OOOOOHHHH NOOOOOO - MONNNNO CHROMAAAAATTTTIIIICCCCCC!!!! GAH!"

Hmmmm, I wonder if they'll accept Red, Green and Brown as a new age shade of Blue? ...

Anyway, This card is for the gardener at the school my son just began attending as a Kindy. He is vision impaired and the gardener sat in 37oC heat to paint the entire school with warning strips and visual cues for him. Bless her! It looks great and has already made a difference to him.

Frosted Designs Sketch Challenge for January

Hi all! Frosted Designs have a lovely sketch over at their blog for the January Challenge.  I'm a true Libra personality and love balancing my complicated layouts with neat, simple designs. So this suited me after my crazy Alice in Wonderland!

Here is the sketch

  

This is our cute little angel which was hand-made by my Mum, using the material and pearl beads from her original wedding dress and the feathers from her bouquet. (living in a small wheatbelt town in Western Australia, they didn't have fresh flowers, so they used feathers).

Such a clever way of preserving her dress for us forever. The angel is very special. 

 I i-rocked this ornament and it is hanging free on thread so that the journalling can be read.

 I embossed the ornaments and also the photo mat, adding embossing power then brushing it off the raised parts before heating. It looks very antique

 The font is Brody, using Sure Cuts a Lot2. I used gold gel pens to highlight the letters

 What a perfect way to preserve memories of our precious angel.

Jitterbuggin Challenge

Over at Jitterbuggin' Challenge there is a fun sketch challenge this week.

The challenge was to copy the sketch and include a cricut bird and something pink! 

Here is the sketch:

I have always loved the paper lace in Cindy Loo and wanted to give it a go. Blogging has been brilliant for me as I have seen lots of new and exciting ideas, such as chipboard necklaces and embossing powder using layering. So I put all my new skills to the test!

 

I cut three of this shape in chipboard using multicut. I cut out the inside detail on two so that I could layer them and make it have depth.I used embossing textas and mixtures of Bridal and Violet pearl embossing powders to make it sparkle and then used Glossy Accents. As always, it looks much better than this photo allows.

I then cut out the same shape in Shadow and that is the base. I used Rhapsody blue embossing powder for the background. Punch two holes in the base and threaded the cord before gluing the top layer on. 

I then cut the matching shape out in Cindy Loo at 3" and stuck it on the card, cutting holes for the necklace to fit through so it can be given as a card and present all in one.

Scrap Jacked Challenge!

While the boys were asleep at lunch time today I had some fun with the Scrap Jacked challenge.

All you have to do is choose ONE DT's sample and use it for inspiration and create a scraplift of it. Either a layout/card/Off The Page. I love Christine's scrapping style and I am exploring new ideas lately so I thought I'd give hers a go...

My poor mum didn't get any granddaughters... just all boys! And we always take the opportunity during Christmas to photograph all the boys together. 

This is Christine's layout I scrapjacked:

Boys Will Be Boys 2!

This is a very simple layout. I have got to the end of a very big pile of photos and I just want them scrapped to show the boys stories without too much fuss.

This is the font from the Boys Will Be Boys cartridge blown up larger so layering is a bit easier.

These two photos (above and below) show what the Robotz Cricut Companion Embossing Folders can do when they are inked. Above is inked with Vintage Photo Distress Inks and the below background was inked with Broken China Distress Inks.  

Tomorrow I will show you what some of the phrases look like cut out in different coloured layers.

Boys Will Be Boys!

I love my Boys Will Be Boys cartridge from

 Scrappy-Go-Lucky! Thank you Mandy!  

There is so much you can do with it! 

Ove the next few days I will show you some of my layouts with Boys Will be Boys! 

A friend of mine has just had a baby boy, so I am making a card for him and finishing with an amazing layout by the end of the week that you will love!

But first! Every afternoon we watch Mr Maker - a great craft show for kids. Dean loves it. I call Dean Mr Mess Maker. So making this page will remind him of both of those favourite things. PLUS gets to show off his messy shots!

The paper is from the Robot set, and I found matching brads in my local scrap shop that has just relocated.  

The Robot is cut from Boys Will Be Boys cartridge and I cuttlebugged his body layer using the ROBOTZ cartridge companion embossing folders.

I used Tiara Stickles to highlight his feet and hands. And Distress Ink - Broken China to ink the background circle.

The Arrow font takes a little bit of getting used to. This was my first attempt, so some of the bits went skewwhiff (yes, that is how you spell that word according to Collins! WEIRD!) when I glossy accented them on. The Xyron machine was extremely handy when layering the letters.

I like it, but was going to try more contrasting colours next time to highlight the arrow part and make sure I cut the letters nice and big... Live and Learn!

But I still love it all the same. PLUS, it is a page about mess. It probably wouldn't be right to have everything perfect! (That's what I keep telling myself!)

I love the concept of this card. I am a goal driven person and love making my ideas into action. I have a page of 104 life goals of my dreams, goals and fantasies. Over the last ten years I have been making them happen. Last year I flew a plane! I would never have imagined that could happen in my life. But my point is simple. What ever you can dream up, you can make happen!

My card is made of black bling bazzills, I put a piece of black card through the Cuttlebug with the Swirls folder, I then traced glossy accents over the raised parts. This always looks great on black card.

I used a little bit of Stazeon ink around the black card, then drew Tinkerbell from Disney Tinkerbell and Friends Cartridge out in the filigree function with Silver Cri-kits pens and then the shadow function to cut her out. I embossed her detailed wings with Bridal embossing powder. I used Stickles to bling up her wand.

The title frame is cut from the Cindy Loo cartridge, it is the mushroom frame and layers. I used SCAL to write the words with silver Cri-Kits pens.

I then used an embossing texta and rainbow embossing powder to draw 'magic' coming from her wand. 

You can make ANYTHING happen!

Beautiful and Bold

Hi Everyone! I have been part of a fun card swap with the team from Scrappy-Go-Lucky and this is one of my favourite ever cards I have made!

I was given a theme, (Can you guess?) and went looking about on the internet for different pictures on that theme for inspiration.

I found this painting below by Fine Artist Elaina Wagner.

I am a huge fan of Glossy Accents and love using it excess lately to make things look glossy, especially embossed paper. I made a plain card out of black bazzills, cut three hair pieces and put them through the Cuttlebug with the Wood Grain folder. I gently inked Stazeon over the raised pieces and used Glossy Accents to higlight strands of hair. I added a rounded face in white card and inked it with Weathered Wood Distress ink to define cheeks. I made some lips in black card, used white gel pen to higlight it and put three layers of Glossy Accents to give it a real lip gloss and puffy lip look.

I drew the eyes and nose using black watercolour pencils and used a few layers of Glossy Accents and a rhinestone in the pupil to give it a glossy eye ball appearance. I also used Silver and Gunmetal Stickles to make eyelashes.

I made the mask from white bazzills and ran it through the Cuttlebug using the Swirls folder. I embossed the whole mask with Bridal embossing powder and Tiara Stickles to border it.

I used a piece of black and white ribbon as the mask holder and layered a flower using Sure Cuts a Lot and a two different flowers I found on clip art. I split them apart in SCAL before cutting. Here are the images you can save to your computer and use the Trace Image function to transport them into SCAL if you like it.

White glossy pen and more Glossy Accents finished the flower off very nicely.

I love the boldness of her face and seeing the ten cards together on my bookshelf was an awesome sight! Make sure you check out more cards this week on Scrappy-Go-Lucky! I have received some in the mail, they are so gorgeous! You are all in for a treat!
