Camping Critter Challenge with Curt Jensen

Curt Jensen is running a monthly Cartridge Challenge
over on his blog Typecast Creative.
This month challenge is to make a
project with his Campin Critters cart.

If you have been around my blog for a while,
then you have seen the famous train table...

Well, this month, we took Thomas the Tank Engine
on an adventure camping with some new critters!

The teddies got busy setting up the tents.

Pooh Bear, the Camp Leader gave all the directions.

Then the teddies heard a whisper that there was a
teddy bear's picnic in the forest nearby.

They jumped on the nearest train and followed the signs.

They arrived at the forest just in time for lunch.

They ignored the ranger's sign and ate everything in the picnic basket.

 *sound of kids singing...*
If you go down to the woods today... etc...

And that's the way the teddy bears have their pic...nic.

Swiper the Fox told them all to go jump in the lake.
Good idea Swiper!
There were lots of fish to be caught at the lake.

We used round paper clips for fish eyes and used REAL DIAL SIZE on the cricut to make the fish layer 3 inches.
Then we made a fishing rod with a magnet.

The teddy bears and my spunky monkeys spent ages
fishing happily at the lake.

I love that some cute paper shapes can
ignite children's imaginations and
send them into a world of fun.

Please note L.B. - Overuse of dotty My Minds eye paper for the ground... hahahaha... that's a whole lot of pages.

While they got lost in Campin world, I made lots of
"We Have Moved" cards for our upcoming
move into our new home.
So excited to be packing boxes again!
NOT.

But I am excited that this will
be my last move in a long time!

Our new home will watch my kids grow and grow.
Because these treasured days of cute boys, wild worlds, Campin Critters and Thomas adventures won't last forever.
 Unfortunately.
I wish I could freeze time today
with the sound of their little giggles as
they caught another fish.
I used the weld function on my gypsy to join two shadowed cars (one flipped) so that it made a shaped card.

Thanks Curt at Typecast Creative for a fun challenge!

Quick Hot Blog Update!

Jacob doesn't look very impressed!

Nice moves Jacob. Way to go. Lol.
Follow the fun on L.B's new look blog.

My entry into Curt Jensen's Camping Critter comp is going to be last minute... I prepared a doozy!!!

I also have some news.
Sadly I had to leave the design teams of Whimsical Wednesday and Scraptastic Designs as I will be rather busy very soon and didn't want to disappoint all the lovely entrants and DT. But every chance I get I will playing along with them. Thanks so much to Stephanie and Cindy for the honour of designing for them and I am looking forward to seeing the success of their new stamp and digi ventures.

I am so excited.
The EXACT job I wanted when I first came to this town.
Never in a million years did think I win it within 6 months beating a tonne of applicants to the post.
 I am the luckiest
(but will also be the busiest)
lady in the world.

The Universe looks after me in so many ways.

And THAT is how you can completely
overhaul your life in just 6 months.

It's been chaos and a bumpy ride
but I am grateful for every minute of it.

Check out my Daily THX tab for some new entries and
remember to add your own.

Washi tape ideas galore, Hot Blog Hop Update and need Gyspy help!

A couple of weeks ago I entered a comp to win some washi tape. Well, I won! Woooo.

Sawyers Place sent me the Ophelia collection tapes. Then Gina from the Stampers Den rang me with the great news that the Enchanted Bo Bunny collection of paper had arrived... it was a match made in heaven!

I used it as borders and elements in the layout below. When my boys wake up they both have a cuddle and tell me I'm their best friend. I'll miss those chubby little fingers gripping mine when they are older. The tape I used in this one is called Insanity Script.

You can even dress up a simple BBQ or picnic. Even a Dinky Di Aussie barbeque can be just a little bit fancy with minimal effort using plastic forks, napkins and paper plates!
Don't for get the plastic cups! This is Black and White Regal Damask from the Ophelia collection.

I used the Red spot tape to make a quick easy envelope for a friend. (Hahahaha Caron, hope you aren't reading this... I haven't dropped it at Gina's yet... but because I made it  all prettttyyyyyy I'm forgiven right?!)
Please note: PatN: Use of Art Philosophy stamp right there!

Washi can also make a fun alternative to spending hours getting manicures, chipped nailpolish and you can match any colour you want!

Then I really fell in love... I was making a donation to the Harrison Little Wings Charity who give items to help mums who suffer infant loss and don't get to take their angel babies home from hospital. It is such a clever charity that ensures the mummies are given something beautiful and concrete to take home to help the grieving and treasuring process such as instant scrapbook albums. I made them a Memory Box frame to give out.

It can hold all the little precious items that tiny babies are given during their short time in this world like monitor cables, beanies, etc and has room for photos too.

What I LOVE about the Washi tape is that you can use it on the wooden work and great for chipboard constructables too. As it sinks into the grooves and can help you achieve a nice clean finish.
I used tape on the entire underneath and sides so if it was seen side on it is still neat and themed. Pre-painting the base not only is messy, takes time, but the tape gives it a real professional look!
I even lined up the word Enchanted from the paper to sit in the bottom of the enclosed space.

To cover chipboard letters, all you do is cover the letter with your desired washi tape, snip into the sides of the letter at 0.5cm intervals and then wrap the tabs around your letter so there are no bumps... who would paint chippy letters ever again?

You can sand it, glue on it, write on the right colour. It's impressing me! Thanks Sawyers Place for the opportunity to broaden my scrap ideas!
