Hi All! As promised, I am here at the end of the week with the Pop Up cake tutorial. It may be only one hour to midnight and LITERALLY the end of the week, but I made it!
Go to the Canon website to see their smaller version of this if you get stuck with my dodgy template at any point.
I made mine on a 6 x 6 card.
Choose a thicker paper for the base of the card.
I printed off my plate and fork 13cm wide on photo paper and simply cut around it, glued it on. You can have the pic of my mums plate if you want!
Then I drew this template, by scaling up the versions from the Canon website and slightly changing the shape to suit scrapbooking thicker paper.
You can save this to your computer, and print it off as an A4. Lay them on top of your paper pieces and cut out. The pieces are all labelled and mostly explained where they go.
Then you can use my cake as a guide to see how it will look coloured.
Try not to add too many extra 3D bits onto tabs that sit at the top of the cake or it will not fold in.
Everything should fold inwards.
It takes a little bit of gentle persuasion, but once you have it, it pops open and shut without complaint.
Then I added another cover to the outside and a strip of paper in a ring to hold it together when folded.
And voila!
I used Martha Stewart holiday cakes for my drippy icing.
My VERY fat free, high fibre choc jaffa mud cake.
Now come back tomorrow to find out why STAZON really does live up to it's name in my house.
