Jitterbuggin Challenge

Over at Jitterbuggin' Challenge there is a fun sketch challenge this week.

The challenge was to copy the sketch and include a cricut bird and something pink! 

Here is the sketch:

I have always loved the paper lace in Cindy Loo and wanted to give it a go. Blogging has been brilliant for me as I have seen lots of new and exciting ideas, such as chipboard necklaces and embossing powder using layering. So I put all my new skills to the test!

 

I cut three of this shape in chipboard using multicut. I cut out the inside detail on two so that I could layer them and make it have depth.I used embossing textas and mixtures of Bridal and Violet pearl embossing powders to make it sparkle and then used Glossy Accents. As always, it looks much better than this photo allows.

I then cut out the same shape in Shadow and that is the base. I used Rhapsody blue embossing powder for the background. Punch two holes in the base and threaded the cord before gluing the top layer on. 

I then cut the matching shape out in Cindy Loo at 3" and stuck it on the card, cutting holes for the necklace to fit through so it can be given as a card and present all in one.

Scrapping the old pics.

Hi all. I've been working on a cute layout today. I saw Liz Qualman's sketch on My Little Sketch Blook which I loved and had to try it. The challenge was to use Little Yellow Bicycle paper, but I hadn't been down to my little local scrap store Scrappy Valley and I had some cute paper I wanted to use. So this is Liz's sketch:

 

and here is what I came up with:

If I find Little Yellow Bicycle paper anywhere I am going to do another layout. I still have all of January! 

 

Do You Stack Up Challenge #2 Distress it!

Over at Do You Stack Up they are having a challenge for Distressing. I have my new Heart Attack tool and so I thought I would give it a go.

 

My little boy having playdough fun. 

I sanded the edge of the photos and used Ranger Distress Ink Barn Door. 

I used my i-top brad maker to make a stressed looking embellishment.

I used my Cricut Dental Pack to scratch into the Kaiser paper and used Distress Ink Walnut Stain to highlight.

I wrote the title in pentel ink pens and added coloured staples to highlight areas and added some tearing and folding.

I may have never decided to use that amount of distressing on one page and my son LOVES it. He has a rare form of albinism and is close to legally blind. He found the textures of it fascinating.

Winter Warmies and Peachy Keens!

Yesterday I had the luxury of scrapping all day with my friend, Carlene from Me n' Miss Pink Cricut. I was completing Fantabulous Cricuts Challenge Me Monday #42 and Carlene was looking at the Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge #43 and we realised I could enter both with my planned layout!

Fantabulous Cricut's challenge is about Winter Warmies and Peachy Keen had a sketch stamp challenge.  

I have never played in snow and while some parts of the world have snow... Here it is 37C (98F) ... ergh. 

I had just got my Winter Frolic cartridge in the mail and it was PERFECT for Fantabulous Cricut's Challenge of wearing winter warmies. I couldn't help but dress myself up as the ice skater. Looking at my views of dry hot land sitting right next to my fan... I'm just jealous of all those pictures of snow!

I used three different types of Peachy Keen Stamps and I'm slowly getting better at using gel pens, chalks and water colours to highlight the face around the stamp. 

 Peachy Keens are so cute.

 This font is cut on Sure Cuts a Lot 2 and it is called Liquid Bulbous

 This font is called Flamme

 Winter Frolic provided all the characters and I used a stamp tag to make the snowflake. See my tutorial on stamp masking. 

This was the Sketch from the Peachy Keen challenge. 

Thanks to both Peachy Keens and Fantabulous Cricut for a great challenge. It made me think about using different elements than I would normally use. Entering the challenge is just an added bonus!

My precious Drewby in Bo Bunny

Hi all again! Love the new set of Bo Bunny Christmas paper. When I saw the sketch challenge over at Bo Bunny I couldn't help but enter!

I had a photo of Drew holding a purple bag full of Christmas goodies and another pic of him decorating the tree where the lighting was just gorgeous. So I go to planning my layout. 

 

My Cricut was devastated!!! All it got to cut out was the title from Graphically Speaking and the little star flourish from Martha Stewart Holiday Cakes! 

Bo bunny paper makes it so easy to find all that you need to embellish and add detail to your layout! 

Of course, I inked using Dusty Concord distress ink and I-rocked the embellishments.

Sketches in Thyme Challenge

I am so excited to post this layout!  My favourite day of last year was the Eclipse Premiere and the Twilight Movie Marathon. It was the only movie I went to see in an actual  cinema last year!! (Small country town girl!)

I loved the sketch by Jana Eubank over at Sketches in Thyme and wanted in on the challenge.   

Thanks for a great sketch ladies!!! It was a fun challenge!

I used Martha Stewart Holiday Cakes for the leaf flourish,  Heritage cartridge for the frame, SureCuts a Lot2 for the titles and good ole faithful Accent Essentials to give me the scallop border. 

Glossy Accents as usual on everything to gloss up the lettering and scallops and I used my new Pentel silver outline pens to highlight the word Eclipse!

Time Travel Tuesday.

 

Every Tuesday I am going to post an old layout of mine to remind me of how far I have come using my Cricut and learning new skills. This one was just one year ago when I first got my Storybook Cartridge.  

Pregnant with my 10 lb 5 & half oz (Not going to round down the half- I felt every gram!!!) youngest son Drewby... all the while chasing around my 18month old superspunkymonkey Dean. 

I just got my Winter Frolic cartridge in the mail! Yay for the Aussie Dollar and US exchange rate!!! So I am off to plan my page for the challenge at Fantabulous Cricut 

Meanwhile Carlene from Me n Miss Pink Cricut is driving 3 &half hours today to come scrap at my house for a day... we are going to make our Cricut's chirp and work! 

How far would you drive attend a scrapathon?
