Frosted Designs - Sketch Along Tuesdays 1-25

I liked the Tuesday Sketch 1-25 from Frosted Designs. I normally like a lot of photos on a layout, but this photo was special.

It is Julia, my Education Assistant from 1996 - 1999 in Mount Magnet, my first teaching post. (Plus an extra little cutie Josh) Julia was the most gorgeous lady who taught me a lot about being a good teacher. Sadly she passed away a few years after I left town.
Julia's funeral was 800km away from my teaching post and my car broke down on the way to her funeral. I never felt that I have been able to say goodbye. We phoned each other every three months after I left town and I really miss her chats. So writing her a letter, and making this layout was my way of saying thanks for her time and the opportunity to have met her.
This font is Hello Kitty and I i-rocked the stamped flowers.
When I saw the rickrack element on the sketch, there was only one thing I could use, the necklace Julia gave me as a present which I wear the first and last day of every school term.  I can print this off as a 12 x 12 to showcase the necklace.
This was the sketch.
I used the i-top brad maker to make the centre of the dot on the J and swirls embossing folder for the middle element underneath the photo.

Thanks for the sketch Frosted Designs. It was nice to fuss over paper, ink and elements while reflecting on the beautiful person in the photo.

  1. I am a great believer that things happen for a reason, and I would say that your car broke down because Julia didn't want to say goodbye to you either x

  6. Wow! I don't think you could have created a better tribute to such a special woman! The LO is gorgoeus and your letter is touching! As a former teacher, I know there are just a few special people who walk through those classroom doors that impact you in such a powerful way! This is one to treasure!
